Farhad Hossain MP

Mr. Farhad Hossain was born in Meherpur at 5th June, 1972. His father was Sahiuddin Biswas. He was MNA in 1970. (Member of the National Assembly). Apart from this, he was elected Member of Parliament for Parliamentary seat 73 Meherpur-1 in 1973 and 1986. He was elected the Bakshal District Governor in 1975. He was one of the founders of Greater Kushtia District Awami League. Late Sahiuddin Biswas, a very close and trusted political colleague of Bangabandhu, played an important role in the freedom struggle as one of the organizers of the Liberation War. He was the host and organizer of the swearing in ceremony of the first government of Bangladesh at Mujibnagar in Meherpur. Farhad Hossain passed M.A in English Linguistics from Dhaka University. He worked as an associate professor in the English Department of Dhaka City College. He is the president of Bangladesh Awami League, Meherpur district branch. He is an elected Member of Parliament for Parliamentary seat 73 Meherpur-1 (Meherpur-Mujibnagar) of the 10th and 11th National Parliaments. He was a member of the Finance Ministry-related Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Tenth National Parliament and a member of the Money Laundering Sub-Committee of the Finance Ministry-related Parliamentary Standing Committee and an executive member of Muktijodha Kalyan Trust.
